Medellín Travel Guide: A Phoenix rising from its own ashes

Medellín Travel Guide: A Phoenix rising from its own ashes

Medellín was named the most dangerous city in the world in 1988 by Time Magazine, when Pablo Escobar and his gang terrorized its streets. In the early 1990s, the murder rate was so high that Medellín, home to Escobar’s notorious Medellín drug cartel, became the murder capital of the world.

Our guide, Juan, who gave us the city tour and lived the darkness of those past days, tells us that gang members kidnapped his uncle and father who worked in Medellín’s city hall and held them for ransom. He continues: “it’s a miracle that I made it to these days after being shot twice on the street by the same people.” The life and stories that we, outsiders of the country, watch in shows like Narcos are unfortunately the real memories and past of those people filled with the sadness and pain. read more

Oumar K.

I love this beautifully and cuturally rich country and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Whether you are traveling alone, with your family or a small group of friends, my customized tours can be built to your specifications and needs, and can accommodate up to 30 people or more. Please, send an inquiry if you have a large group.
Here are some elements I hope you will consider as you choose your Guide.
**I lived for 10 years in the USA, so I can offer you both an inside and external view of Senegal. In addition to helping me perfect my use of the English language, this time expanded my world view and hopefully will allow me to better understand and answer your questions about my country’s culture and people.
Instead of hiring support from various sources, I have collected a top-notch team of people during the last 20 years to assist me in providing you excellent care and support.
** In this predominantly French speaking country, all of my tours are solely conducted in ENGLISH.
**I am fluent in English, French and Wolof. This allows me to communicate easily with you, and interprete for you, should you wish to’ speak’ with Locals.
**I will show you in a short time, what you probably couldn’t experience on your own, even with more time.
**My goal is to connect with you and give you a wonderful experience.
**These tours are tailor made to suit you. We can adapt them as we go to make sure you are spending your limited time doing those things of most interest to you.
Given the many years I have been doing this, I feel that I am best able to do such tailoring since I know about travel time, traffic, schedules, etc. .
**Even if you do not choose me as your Guide, I am happy to try and answer questions for you. You have a limited amount of time and there is much to see and do here. I don’t want you to waste your precious time. read more

Meraviglioso, Milano! More Than Fashion And Football

Meraviglioso, Milano! More Than Fashion And Football

You can quickly judge where a person’s priorities in life lie simply by mentioning the name of Milan. In most cases, they will respond by talking of the city’s contributions either to the world of fashion, or of football.

That’s fair enough, of course. If you’re interested in either of those worlds then the names Armani, Dolce, Versace, Maldini, Pirlo and Baggio will mean something to you. If you had to Google those names to work out which one dressed Liz Hurley and which one was a linchpin of the AC Milan defence of the early 90s? You may be thinking Milan hasn’t got much for you. You’d be wrong. read more
