Vitamin D3 Streuli ® Prophylaxis
What is Vitamin D3 Streuli and when is it used?
Vitamin D3 Streuli is an oily solution with cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Vitamin D3 can normally be produced in the skin by humans themselves under the influence of sunlight.
Vitamin D3 is necessary for calcium intake from food and indispensable for normal bone formation.
In case of insufficient sun exposure, insufficient intake of vitamin D3-enriched foods and increased need for vitamin D3 during growth, pregnancy and lactation, the body must also be offered this vitamin.
Vitamin D3 Streuli is used for the following diseases:
- Prevention of bone softening in children (rickets);
- Prevention of bone softening in adults (osteomalacia);
- Preventive gifts: strong growth phases, pregnancy and lactation.
When should Vitamin D3 Streuli not be used?
- Take only the dose prescribed by your doctor or health care professional within the prescribed time.
- Avoid taking excessive doses of vitamin D for months or years, especially when taking calcium and/or vitaminized nutrients (e.g. bottle preparations) at the same time.
- Vitamin D preparations must not be used in conditions with increased calcium content in the blood or urine or in kidney excretion disorders.
When should I take Vitamin D3 Streuli with caution?
All D-vitamins are harmful if taken in excessive doses (more than 1000-3000 l.U. per kg body weight).
Special caution is required in the case of calcium metabolism disorders, kidney diseases and heart diseases. In these cases your doctor should be consulted.
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking or externally using other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!)!
Can vitamin D3 Streuli be taken during pregnancy or lactation?
Based on previous experience, there is no known risk to the child if used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking any medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.
