Hotel Review: Park Hyatt Mallorca – Business meets Leisure

Park Hyatt Mallorca: Located in the idyllic valley of Canyamel
Hyatt Hotels Corporation, one of the leading international hotel companies headquartered in Chicago, has chosen the quiet northeast of the Balearic Island for its first Park Hyatt brand resort in Europe. Built in the style of a Mallorcan mountain village, the spacious complex is nestled on a hillside above the idyllic valley of Canyamel with views of the sea and surrounding mountains.
Palma de Mallorca International Airport is about 60 minutes away by car. Around a village square are 18 buildings with 142 rooms and suites, four restaurants, fitness center, spa, a large ballroom and the Cap Vermell Residence with eight different function rooms. Everything is embedded in a Mediterranean garden with lots of water. The sound is always present, suggesting coolness and freshness. Between the houses grow pine, fig, cherry, olive and almond trees, agave grasses, rosemary and lavender.
Exceptional meeting concept
The Park Hyatt Mallorca offers space for business meetings in a small circle as well as for larger meetings and conferences up to product presentations. Instead of meeting in a sober conference atmosphere, people here are professionally looking out to sea blue. What sounds like a vacation is actually working under fantastic conditions. The Cap Vermell Residence, an independent building, gives the feeling of a luxurious, private residence with a lounge area, its own reception hall including a marble fireplace and art on the meter-high walls. A typical Mallorcan courtyard with fountain and mosaic stone floor is surrounded by eight elegant, modern event and meeting rooms, versatile and different from each other.
Almost every room has its own terrace and access to the patio – ideal for coffee breaks or an evening drink. A fully equipped business center with extensive service is also part of the offer. The event room La Canostra also offers an open show kitchen. All rooms are equipped with innovative technology such as high-speed Wi-Fi (free of charge), wireless presentation systems, video projectors, microphones, lighting and sound systems, and on-site technicians offer the best possible support. For larger events, there's a 225-square-meter ballroom with a state-of-the-art multimedia system and flexible lighting system. The ballroom has a spacious terrace with a view of the sea.
Park Hyatt Mallorca rooms and suites with a view
Lodging is in 142 spacious rooms and suites (50 – 100 sqm), all with balcony or terrace. They impress with their refinement and luxurious living comforts. Beds are comfortable with soft sheets. Amenities include satellite TV, media player, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, espresso machine as well as a tablet with alarm, weather and hotel information.
The marble bathrooms, with TV in the mirror, separate toilet and rain shower, feature Bottega Veneta brand products. Our tip: choose a room on the upper floors, because the higher, the more beautiful the view of the Canaymel Valley and partly also of the Mediterranean Sea.
Park Hyatt Mallorca : Varied culinary offer
No less than four different restaurants to choose from for lunch or dinner options. The Spanish "Balearic" serves fine Mallorcan cuisine with fresh ingredients from the region. Cafe Sa Placa, with Mallorcan art on the walls, serves snacks, local dishes, coffee, fresh pastries and croissants by award-winning pastry chef Oriol Balaguer.
The "Asia", designed in the style of an exclusive private villa, with a large terrace and dream views of the Canyamel valley and the mountains opposite, takes you into the rich culinary world of Southeast Asia. The authentic specialties are prepared by changing guest chefs. Our favorite is the stylish Tapas Bar. The menu was designed by the star chef David Garcia from the Basque Country, who was previously responsible for the culinary direction of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao for eight years. Its modern-interpretation high-end tapas are actually already creatively composed mini-dishes, plus 25 different cow, sheep and goat cheeses, plus top Iberico ham aged between 16 and 50 months that melts in your mouth.
Multifaceted leisure activities
For relaxation, the large Serenitas Spa with seven treatment rooms, sauna, vitality pool and alpha quartz sand bed. The fitness center with modern equipment is open around the clock. Three temperature-controlled pools including a pool bar await in the garden. The resort is located next to the Canyamel Golf Club. Within 10 to 20 minutes by car you can reach three other golf courses. The resort's hinterland is ideal for hiking or extended mountain bike tours, and the beach of Canyamel can be reached in five minutes by hotel shuttle.
