How to plan the layout of your child’s room

At the beginning of every concrete planning is the floor plan. Almost all essential things can be defined or at least very well imagined. I would like to give you some tips that will make planning easier for you.

At the beginning, draw the floor plan of the children’s room on a piece of paper. Your son or daughter will surely give or sell you a sheet from the drawing pad. The 1: 20 scale is completely sufficient and, as a rule, the area to be drawn does not become too large. If you don’t have a scale:

1 meter in reality = 5cm on the sheet of paper

Box paper can also help. Once you’ve recorded the floor plan, emphasize the walls. So they trace the lines with a thick, wide felt pen. But only the walls. Windows and doors remain free. Why? If you visualize the floor plan so strongly, you can imagine the room much better – you increase the effect enormously. Now you have two options:

1. You take parchment paper that you lay over the floor plan and scribble on it with a soft pencil.

2. You cut out all furniture to scale – e.g. made of colored cardboard and start playing by moving the cardboard furniture back and forth in the floor plan.

For both methods: play, play, play – you go crazy. Literally. It is not an exam. Scribble and push as much as you can. Trust yourself: Over time, a solution will crystallize. When you find a situation that you like, take a break and look at the plan again the next day. If you still have a good feeling: great. If not, play a new round. And very important: do not be discouraged. there is always a good solution – I promise!
