Supplementary dental insurance including glasses and visual aids: tariffs in comparison & test

About every second person in Germany needs glasses or other visual aids. Although the production of glasses often costs a few hundred euros, glasses and visual aids, such as contact lenses, are not covered by the statutory health insurance.

In order to reduce these regularly incurred costs, it may therefore make sense to choose a tariff when taking out dental insurance, which also includes glasses and visual aids.

Dental insurance that also covers glasses and visual aids – top 5 tariffs

The following table shows the top 5 tariffs which, in addition to services for dentures, dental treatment and prophylaxis / tooth cleaning, also provide benefits for the purchase of glasses / visual aids or their repair. In addition to the reimbursement amount for glasses and visual aids, the individual columns also provide an overview of the otherwise secured service level of the individual tariffs. The von value represents the reimbursement rate for the dental prosthesis service area and the to value represents the reimbursement rate for the dental treatment service area. The benefits for glasses and visual aids are reimbursed by all tariffs with the 100 percent reimbursement rate within the specified maximum amounts. The differentiation between the insurance year and the calendar year is also crucial. For example, an insured person with the R + V Premium Plus + ZV tariff, whose contract begins with the start of the contract in December, can exhaust 400 euros for this area within 13 months, whereas an insured person with a Württemberg tariff can look at this "insurance year", does not enjoy this advantage. The monthly contributions shown relate to a person to be insured for 30 years.
