Trip description

Welcome to canada! Today you arrive in calgary. You will be met at the airport and taken by bus to your hotel. depending on your arrival time, you will have the opportunity to explore the town yourself. Did you know that calgary is the largest city in the canadian province of alberta?? the metropolis nevertheless radiates a western character, which can be seen for example in its saloons. The city also became famous for the Winter Olympics, which were held there in 1988. 1 night in calgary.

rocky mountains

already on your first day you will get an authentic insight into the breathtaking landscape of canada during your drive on the trans-canada highway from calgary towards the west. As the name of the highway suggests, it is a unique road connection through almost all of canada and is considered one of the longest roads in the world. your route takes you along part of this special road, past the impressive canadian rockies. your destination is banff national park (unesco world heritage site): as canada’s oldest national park and the third oldest in the world, it delights its visitors with its mountain panoramas, forests, animals and lakes. after your arrival in the park, your first hike starts at the blue-green shimmering minnewanka lake, the biggest lake of the park, or on one of the many trails around the town of banff (difficulty level: easy, walking time: 2-3 hrs.; +/- 45 meters of altitude). 3 nights in banff. (driving distance: approx. 145km; pure driving time: approx. 2-3 hrs.)

Afterwards you will hike in harmony with nature to a mountain lake (medium difficulty, 4 hours)., +/- 400 hm). At the end of the day, you have the opportunity to explore the cozy town of banff at your leisure. We recommend a stroll through its center with souvenir stores or a ride on a gondola. (driving distance: ca. 115 km; pure driving time: approx. 2 hrs.) (F)

Takakkaw Falls

Takakkaw falls

look forward to yoho national park (UNESCO world heritage site) with its rock faces, forests, mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Already just over the provincial border in british columbia, it borders banff national park and is also in the midst of the rockies. Already the drive to the national park increases the anticipation for today, due to the remarkable mountain landscapes. one of its most famous highlights is the 381.10 m high takakkaw falls, which is one of the highest waterfalls in north america. See them on the spot. Furthermore you can admire the clear and turquoise emerald lake with the original natural bridge, which literally forms a natural bridge of stone over the inflow to the lake. yoho national park is also crossed by the canadian pacific railway, with its impressive spiral tunnels overcoming the differences in altitude. during your hike through yoho park you can experience nature up close (easy, 2 hrs)., +/-0 hm).
