Young people benefiting the community

Since 2014 the town of Brandis has been a Saxon model municipality in the scope of the Jugend bewegt Kommune (young people benefiting the community) project. In this programme partners in the town strengthen the open child and youth work offers in particular, connecting existing offers, creating tailored offers for children and young people in the individual districts of the town and promoting the development of young people within the existing clubs and associations. Particular focus lies upon the establishment of a body to represent the interests of children and young people in municipal decision-making processes. The Deutsche Kinder- und Jugendstiftung foundation provides advisory assistance in the development of a participation-oriented child and youth concept.

Children and youth work

Open children and youth work is an important subject. The town has set itself the goal of drawing up and implementing a new youth concept by 2015.

Open child and youth work is currently offered in the following youth establishments:

Children, young people and family

Room to relax, play, walk or shop – all things that a family appreciates having in one place without having to travel long distances – the infrastructure of Brandis makes this possible. With a vibrant town centre, ample green areas around the town and a wealth of other leisure and shopping opportunities, Brandis occupies a very positive position.

Brandis is a young town and a town of families. 23 percent of the population of Brandis is under the age of 27. This represents great potential for our town. It is therefore all the more important that optimal conditions are created in the field of child care and education.

With its child care facilities and its excellent schools Brandis provides sustainable support to young families and shows itself to be an attractive place in which to live. Various child care options are available. From child day-care facilities to schools and crèches and on to childminders.
