The large state in the north of Germany is ideal for a family vacation in summer. A lot of water makes you want to go on a beach holiday with children in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: at over 2,000 lakes or on the 2,000 km of beaches on the Baltic Sea. Did you know that the largest German lake is in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania? With over 112 square kilometers, the Müritz is a huge “bathtub”.

The Müritz offers space for different forms of family vacation. You can even spend a boost holiday with children here. Families will find very good conditions for paddling and canoeing in the Strelitzer Kleinseenplatte. You can live in the Müritz in a holiday apartment or in a family hotel with wellness. There is even accommodation on a boat.

In bad weather you can visit the Müritzeum in Waren. There you can find out all about the nature of Müritz. There is the Müritz National Park, which is also brought closer to children here. Active families use the a lot of Bike paths around the Müritz lake landscape. The Müritz is generally very natural, tourist life has returned to the cities. We liked Rügen and Usedom even better, the two Baltic islands:

Family vacation on Usedom Island
Thanks to the beautiful family-friendly stands, the Baltic Sea island is very suitable for a beach holiday with children. The towns of Karlshagen, Trassenheide, Bansin, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck are particularly family-friendly. There are also some family-friendly hotels here. We liked it even better in the apartment in Trassenheide.
