  • Oral-B brush heads are the matching brush heads for electric toothbrushes from Oral-B.
  • Each model is either an all-rounder or has a special area of application: interdental cleaning, tooth whitening, gentle cleaning or deep cleaning.
  • Each Oral-B brush head fits every brand electric toothbrush. Exception: The sonic toothbrushes have special brush heads that only fit on the sonic toothbrushes.

Cleaning the teeth is an important part of daily personal hygiene. The more technology advances, the greater the possibilities in this area. Electric toothbrushes have now dropped the manual toothbrushes in terms of thoroughness and sustainability of cleaning. Braun’s own brand Oral-B is the global market leader for electric toothbrushes. It not only offers a selection of different electric toothbrushes, but also the associated brush heads. These can be combined as far as possible with all models, so that when you buy an electric toothbrush from Oral-B you do not have to automatically commit yourself to a brush head, but can change it flexibly. But how do you know which plug-on head is the right one? In the Oral-B brush heads comparison, we will show you the best Oral-B brush heads (e.g. the Precision Clean) and provide you with detailed advice on how to buy Oral-B brush heads. We also present our Oral-B brush heads comparison winner 2019/2020.

1. What is a brush head?

The Precision Clean from Oral B.

A brush head is the upper part of an electric toothbrush and contains a rod and brush head. Since Oral-B is the market leader in electric toothbrushes, the brand also offers a large number of different brush heads. Differences are, for example, in the shape (see point 2 in the Oral-B brush comparison), in the nature of the bristles and the arrangement of these. For example, there are hard or soft bristles (sensitive). The degree of hardness has no influence on the effectiveness of the cleaning. Some brush heads enclose them Teeth right and clean the gaps very precisely, while others tend to clean the entire area and remove discolouration. There are also price differences between the models. In the Oral-B brush heads comparison you will find out which cheap Oral-B brush heads are really worthwhile (e.g. the Precision Clean) and whether the more expensive variant is necessarily the better one. We also show you our Oral-B brush heads comparison winner 2019/2020.

2. What types of brush heads are there??

To understand the two different types of slip-on toothbrushes, you first have to know that there are two types of electric toothbrushes. First, the oscillating-rotating Models. This is the classic electric toothbrush with a round brush head that rotates around itself (e.g. the Oral-B Vitality or Dual Clean with Pulsonic or Trizone attachment). The second category is sonic or ultrasonic toothbrushes (e.g. Philips’ Pulsonic), which work using sonic technology and vibrate instead of rotation. The brush head has the shape of a manual toothbrush. In itself, you can distinguish both types based on their appearance, but be careful: there are rarely rotating-oscillating models with an elongated brush head. In the comparison of Oral-B brush heads we show you above all the matching brush heads for oscillating-rotating models, since these are more common. Here are the general advantages of Oral-B brush heads for those models:

  • small and agile – good for interdental spaces
  • there are more different plug-on heads for oscillating-rotating brushes than for sonic toothbrushes – more choice
  • Often a little harder bristles than brush heads for sonic toothbrushes – not ideal for sensitive gums and teeth

3. Purchase criteria for Oral-B brush heads: You have to pay attention to this

3.1. field of use

This is what the oscillating-rotating model looks like.

Oral-B brush heads have different areas of application due to the nature of their bristles. Allrounder are brush heads without special properties and therefore the classic among brush heads – for every person and every occasion, e.g. the Precision Clean. For one gentle cleaning provide sensitive brushes with particularly soft bristles. They are well suited for people with sensitive teeth / gums or inflammation. deep cleansing promise brush heads with bristles of different lengths, which are arranged so that they can get as deep as possible into the interdental spaces e.g. Trizone. tooth whitening is the target of heads with a polishing cone, e.g. the Power 3D White. The manufacturer promises a teeth whitening effect after just 2 weeks. Exclusively Interdental cleaning can do so-called Interspace brush heads. These are particularly suitable for fixed braces.

Tip: The Oral-B brush heads fit all models of the brand’s electric toothbrushes, such as the vitality. The round brush heads simply do not fit on the sonic toothbrushes.

3.2. Daily use

Depending on the type of Oral-B brush head, the manufacturer recommends either daily use or selective use. People who normally use the Precision Clean brush heads, for example, but who have inflammation in their gums, should take a soft sensitive head for this time. Once the inflammation has healed, you can safely return to your normal hard brush head. If you suffer from sensitive gums in general, you can still use the sonic toothbrush (e.g. the Philips Pulsonic).

4. Care and cleaning tips

Even more oral hygiene?

So that teeth and gums are adequately cared for, you should change the Oral-B brushes (whether Precision Clean or Trizone) every 3 months. A sign developed by the brand for this is when the blue color strip on the bristles fades. In daily dental care, you should also make sure to wash the brush head well after each use and to allow it to air dry.

5. Oral-B electric toothbrushes

There are many models of the oscillating-rotating or the electric Oral-B toothbrushes. The simplest model is the Oral-B Vitality. The Oral-B Vitality works with 2D technology. All other models work with 3D technology, e.g. the Oral-B Pro 600, the Oral-B Pro 2000 or the Oral B Triumph 5000. The Oral B Triumph 5000 in particular is one of the more sophisticated models with different stages (levels). All circular brush heads fit on all models, so they can be combined with one another as desired, e.g. Vitality with the Precision Clean brush head, the Sensitive or Trizone brush head. The Oral-B electric toothbrush is therefore a versatile product, and you don’t have to commit to replacement brushes when you buy them. Another major manufacturer of electric toothbrushes is Philips. The Diamondclean and Philips Sonicare are particularly well known here. The Philips Sonicare is a sonic toothbrush. The range of Braun Oral-B sonic toothbrushes is called Pulsonic. The Pulsonic has its own brush heads, which have the shape of a manual toothbrush. So most of the brushes shown here do not fit the Pulsonic. The Oral-B oral irrigator is also popular. However, it cannot be found in the Oral-B brush comparison.

6. The brand

brand profile
Oral-B is the global market leader in the field of electric toothbrushes. The company is owned by Procter & Gamble. The Oral-B Professionel Care advertising slogan is well known. The company advertises with the Oral-B Professionel Care saying that it is recommended by dentists. As the market in Germany is highly competitive, Oral-B often brings new “innovations” to the market.

Here is a video, in wherein Braun Oral-B presents all of its brush heads for cleaning teeth from plaque and leftovers:

7. Oral-B brush heads at the Stiftung Warentest

In the 09/2014 issue, Stiftung Warentest tested 8 brush heads for Oral-B electric toothbrushes. However, only one of these was actually from Braun Oral-B, namely the Precision Clean. With the test rating VERY GOOD (1.4), the Precision Clean was also the Oral-B brush comparison winner. The remaining 7 products were from other brands, so it is not worth presenting the results here. However, we recommend that you always use Oral-B brush heads for an Oral-B electric toothbrush, as they are definitely a perfect fit.

Tip: A manual toothbrush should also be changed every 3 months.

8. Questions and answers about Oral-B brush heads

8.1. How often should you change the Oral-B brush heads??

To ensure good hygiene in the mouth and the plaque can always be carefully removed, it is important to change the Oral-B toothbrushes every 3 months. Of course, this only applies to the brush head. The Oral-B Headless Electric Toothbrush lasts for several years, but should be wiped off with a damp cloth now and then.

There is a simple test to find out whether it is time to change: Oral-B brush heads usually have white and blue bristles. If the blue bristles lose color, the brown toothbrush is a sign that you should change the brush head.

8.2. Which Oral-B brush head is the best?

The brush heads are only available as a pack.

Which Oral-B electric toothbrush suits you depends on both the nature of your teeth and your mouth. Do you have e.g. sensitive gums, the sensitive push-on head is recommended, which cleans particularly gently. If you want to whiten your teeth, we recommend the Power 3D White brush head. Just look for a snap-on head without frills, the best choice is the Precision Clean brush.

8.3. Which Oral-B brush heads are there??

There are currently 8 different Oral-B brush heads. We will show you the best Oral-B brush heads in the Oral-B brush comparison. There are either all-rounders such as the Precision Clean, those for teeth whitening such as the 3D White or models for the interdental spaces. However, all Oral-B brush heads have enough power to clean your teeth thoroughly. The individual brushes are only available in a pack of at least two brushes.

8.4. Which is better: Braun Oral-B or Philips?

In principle, one cannot say whether Philips or Braun Oral-B is better. However, the fact is that Oral-B is the market leader and offers a very wide range of products. From electric toothbrushes for general teeth cleaning, to models with a power white effect (teeth whitening) or for the interdental spaces: Oral-B offers brush heads for every need. Philips, on the other hand, has a good selection of sonic toothbrushes like the Sonicare. The counterpart to the Philips Sonicare from Oral B is the Pulsonic.
