Psychotherapy for children in frankfurt am main

The development of children is quite different. Difficult phases are normal and almost always belong to them. As parents, however, it can be very unsettling if your own child suddenly behaves strangely or shows abnormalities in development.

In the initial interviews or the psychotherapeutic consultation, it can be clarified whether psychotherapy can help to solve the problem or whether other help, support and support are useful.

At what age

In my practice I treat children from the age of 5. From the age of 14, they are considered to be adolescents by health insurance companies and health insurers. Then they receive youth therapy, for which somewhat different framework conditions apply.

Methods of child psychotherapy

With the methods of psychotherapy, children can be treated who suffer from mental disorders, neuroses, developmental or behavioral disorders. The treatment methods used are scientifically recognized.

Depending on the age and level of development of the child, I also use methods of music, art, behavioral and body psychotherapy in deep psychological play therapy.

Help for parents and caregivers

Child psychotherapy includes caregiver sessions in which various help and support are possible. They are covered by the statutory health insurance and private health insurance companies. Parents are given the opportunity to regularly discuss concerns, difficulties and problems. The search for causes, strategies and solutions can be developed in this context. Depending on your needs, it is also possible to involve other family members and other caregivers. Child psychological and psychodynamic aspects as well as the social situation of the family, school and the rest of the environment are taken into account. The basic obligation to maintain confidentiality is of course not affected by this.

Mental disorders and disorders

Deep psychology assumes that psychological illnesses are triggered by unresolved conscious or unconscious internal conflicts. The symptoms are often an expression of mental hardship and, at the same time, failed self-healing attempts. In psychological and psychosomatic disorders, child psychologists can also recognize developmental psychological inhibitions that have an illness-causing effect. The aim is to make the symptoms superfluous in the course of psychotherapy if the underlying conflicts are resolved and overcome.

The range of treatments includes all mental disorders, illnesses and psychological problems. Common and typical diagnoses in childhood are for example:

  • Fears: separation anxiety or fear of loss
  • Divorce, separation and loss problems
  • Depression and sadness
  • Emotional disorders: mood swings or low self-esteem.
  • School difficulties
  • Disorder of social behavior
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • difficulty concentrating
  • Psychosomatic disorders: asthma or neurodermatitis
  • Somatization: Pain without medical findings such as: headache or abdominal pain during stress

duration

The psychotherapeutic sessions last 50 minutes. They should take place regularly at fixed times and days, once or twice a week. Individual psychotherapy can last from three months to several years. The duration of treatment depends on many factors.

costs

The costs for one Child psychotherapy is covered by the statutory health insurance companies. With private health insurance, billing is also possible. Here, the scope and amount of the reimbursement depends on the individual contract. It makes sense to clarify this in advance.
