Test reports

ADAC: good | stiftung warentest: good | OUR ASSESSMENT: very good

The ADAC tested the romer child seat KID II in 2015. The test result was an overall rating of " good ", making this seat one of the best in group 2/3. The predecessor model kid plus SICT was already rated as one of the best child seats in its group in 2012.

In the range safety the testers of the ADAC mention the very low load values in the side crash and the low load values in the front crash. Among other things, this is due to an optimal belt routing.

Especially in the area operation/ergonomics plays the KID II its strengths. The testers attest to a very low risk of operating errors and easy size adjustment to the child. These are basic requirements for the ideal use of the seat and thus leads to the necessary safety of your child.
In addition, the seat comfort for the child is rated as very good, because in addition to the very good padding and a very good leg rest, a favorable seating position for the child was determined. Not to forget the comfort for the parents, because the seat is very light and can be taken in and out of the car without much effort.

Very positive was the KID II moreover by a very low pollutant load as well as by a simple cleaning of the cover from. This can be removed very easily and is machine washable.

As weakness in the test of the ADAC the not optimal seat position of the child seat in the car stood out. Sometimes it is necessary to remove the headrest completely – in general this is recommended anyway due to the handling. Furthermore, the child seat has a very expansive design, which takes up a lot of space.

In summary, the ADAC certifies the KID 2 a high level of safety, very good quality/workmanship and very good seating comfort for the child, with a loss of space and a less than optimal connection between the seat and the vehicle.

foundation test

stiftung warentest confirms the good result of the ADAC child seat in the details and have awarded the kid II the " good " awarded. Britax Romer has already achieved convincing results in previous tests for the previous models, among other things because they react very quickly to the feedback of the testers.

So it was a success when the tested predecessor was published in the 06/2011 issue of the magazine KID plus SICT praised. After the seat was only rated "satisfactory" in the 2005 test, the manufacturer reacted and improved the child seat in a number of points, for example with an optimized belt routing.
These measures have shown effect, so that the testers of the stiftung warentest at that time awarded the child seat the award " good " look.

The current model has received a convincing quality certified. Among other things, the testers praised the "optimal belt routing". Further plus points in the test could be KID II with the very good side protection and the good front impact collect as well as by a high comfort and the simple installation.

experience | field test

The kid II from britax-romer we recommended us in the child markets again and again as the best child seat for the child. That’s why we asked our friends, and lo and behold, almost a third of them use the kid II.

When you see the child seat for the first time in front of you, it looks very tidy, almost a "clean design". This is due on the one hand to the fact that it comes without a playful design and on the other hand to the straight cut and the linear seams. the designers at romer have taken the growing age of children into account here. Good, in our opinion. That he can also colorful proves the kid II in the pattern magic dots with red dots.

Of course, the seat must please not only the parents but also the children. It does, as our test bee confirms. And it is still very comfortable. Especially on longer journeys, a child seat can become uncomfortable for the little ones, but with the kid 2 we have from our child seat bees uniformly the verdict "great" and "very comfortable" heard.
A pleasant special feature of the child seat is the so-called rest position, which tilts the seat slightly backwards. However, this can only be adjusted when the child is out of the seat, which is not a problem. The child can also rest its head very well on the headrest, which is pulled far forward, for sleeping.

With a seat that grows with the child it should be possible to adjust the seat to the increasing size of the child without any major effort. This requirement is mastered by the kid II with flying colors: the width of the seat can be adjusted in just a few steps, as can the seat cushion, which can be adjusted to fit the child in several positions. The very high backrest and the far-forward cover in the shoulder area are also helpful, so that even older children are always safely accommodated in the seat.

The horns on the side of the seat are designed to be hard-wearing and guide the belt optimally along the child’s body. The belting proves in practice as very simple, at an advanced age, the children can do this themselves (note: please always check with a tug on the belt!). The seat is secured in the car with the three-point belt and, with its wide base and infinitely adjustable backrest to adapt to the seat, it is stable. Very good!

We were also particularly struck by the low weight and the removable cover, which can be washed in the machine. However, the subsequent fitting on the seat is fiddly.

Our conclusionthe salesmen are right when they call the romer kid II the perfect child seat. It can be easily and always adapted to the growing child and in practice shows its strengths in seating comfort for the children but also in fixation. In our test, the kid plus receives a " good-very good " because of the lack of safety due to the side impact protection system, the kid II SICT achieves a " very good " (but is unfortunately no longer offered), especially because this seat shows no weaknesses. Coupled with the great rating in the test of ADAC and stiftung warentest in terms of safety, this seat is certainly a perfect choice, because the price is simply right here.
