Apple carplay TM and android auto TM SYNC apple carplay and android auto compatibility
connect your iphone or android smartphone to SYNC 3 to use many of your smartphone’s features while driving. This is done by mirroring the screen of your smartphone on the 20.3 cm touchscreen (8 inches) of SYNC 3.

Pairing your phone for the first time
Using touchscreen
- Park your ford, make sure the ignition and radio are turned on, and activate bluetooth® on your smartphone.
- press the "pair phone" button on the ford SYNC 3 touchscreen.
- select "find other bluetooth ® devices" and then click on "next".
- Select your smartphone from the list and compare the six-digit PIN on both devices. Ready.
Before you can use ford SYNC 3 with your apple device without restrictions, you have to click on the "i" next to the connected device (ford SYNC 3) in the bluetooth ® settings of your apple device. then activate the "show notifications" area. your apple device and ford SYNC 3 are now successfully paired. It is also recommended to connect your apple device to ford SYNC 3 with a USB cable.

How to reach your destinations with ford SYNC 3
What’s new?
- thanks to ford SYNC 3’s one box search with applink, you only have to fill in one field to find your destination – whether you’re looking for a specific address or special destinations like a gas station or restaurant.
- Change the map view with intuitive swiping motions like on your smartphone or zoom in and out of the map with two fingers (pinch& zoom).
- For an optimal map view, the menu at the bottom of the screen will automatically disappear after a short time.
- the map display of ford SYNC 3 is characterized by its clarity. This also includes the ability to display prominent buildings in 3-D – so you can find your way around more easily.Ford SYNC 3 with applink uses "fuzzy logic". This system automatically corrects spelling errors when you enter a destination.
how to select a destination via touchscreen?
- click on the navigation tab or the map area on the ford SYNC 3 home screen.
- on the overview page, in the "navigation" section, make a choice between "search", "last destinations", "home", "office", etc.
- Use the keyboard in the "search" area to enter your destination. Destinations can be entered in different ways: by the exact address or the name of a point of interest.
- Relevant special destinations or matching previous destinations are displayed in the results.
- The order of the results can be sorted by "best match", "distance" or "special destinations included in the michelin guide.
- Once you have selected the desired result, a map of the destination will be displayed along with various options.
- Select the start field and start navigating to your destination.
- Navigation starts as soon as the vehicle starts moving.
Destination options
- Distance to destination – select this option to display the distance to the waypoint or destination.
- Time to finish – select this option to show how much time you will need to reach the intermediate or finish line.
- ETA – select this option to show the estimated time of arrival. This information is displayed by default.
- Once you have made your selection, select "close".
- The audible guidance starts as soon as the vehicle starts moving.
How to save home, work or favorite addresses using the touchscreen
Home, work addresses or favorites can be saved with ford SYNC 3. The advantage: with just one touch you can select these destinations. How to do it? Simple:
- Choose between the buttons "at home", "at the office" or "before". destinations".
- Select "home" for example.
- confirm the selection by pressing "yes.
- Enter the appropriate address or use the search box to find it.
- A list of destinations is displayed.
- Select the appropriate result.
- a map showing the destination is displayed on the screen.
- Select "save.
- A house icon is displayed next to the address to mark it as your home address.
- The travel time from the current location to the home address is also displayed.

the michelin travel guide is a service that provides additional information about specific destinations such as restaurants and hotels.
Additional information from the michelin travel guide can be accessed via a button next to the special destination. if you have paired your phone with the system, you can also call the selected destination directly, for example to reserve a table.
