Rapunzel or "Whom love meets" – Open-air performance

Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 5 p.m. Inner courtyard of Heuchlingen Castle

Friedrike and Friedrich go through life in pairs. They are twins. Together they open the book of their fairytale family history and look back in time: their grandmother Grete wishes a child from the bottom of her heart. Finally pregnant, she craves the Rapunzeln from her neighbor’s garden. Grete’s husband is caught by the sorceress Gotel when he is stolen. Now he has the salad, because the sorceress calls for the newborn! She loves the girl she calls Rapunzel over everything. However, since she is afraid that someone may take the child away from her, she shields it from the outside world.

But Rapunzel is curious, wants to meet other young people and conquer their place in the world. This does not suit her foster mother, she locks Rapunzel in a tower in a remote forest. Rapunzel complains. It is heard by Prince Thomas, who does not want to fight or become king. He asks her to let her long hair down and climbs up on them: it is love at first sight!

Gotel Rapunzel sends jealous of young happiness into the desert, but love is stronger than anything in the world.

Katharina Schlender’s modern adaptation of the famous Grimm fairy tale tells of love, fear and courage. It is a humorous plea for togetherness and independence.
