Pedagogical conception

1. For whom are unour offers thought (target group)?

The offers of the St. Josef Pedagogical Center in the area of ​​child and youth welfare are aimed at:

  • Children and adolescents with behavioral problems
  • Children and adolescents with behavioral problems and special educational needs (= attendance of the internal Dr. Nardini school, private support center, emotional and social development). See school concept!
  • Young people and young adults who need help in becoming independent
  • Families in stressful situations in which a positive development of the children is questioned

Children can be admitted to a help measure in inpatient youth welfare from the age of 6; this age limit does not apply to outpatient help. If necessary, young adults up to the age of 27 can be supported. This requires an application from the young person and recognition of the need for help by the responsible youth welfare office.

2. What should be achieved (goals)?

The overriding goals of work in the child and youth welfare area of ​​the Pedagogical Center are a return to the family or the necessary prerequisites for one to create an independent and responsible lifestyle.
Specifically, this means that the care and therapy of children and adolescents on the Develops the following skills:

  • Initiation of realistic individual and social behavior
  • Stabilizing adequate behavior for family, school, teaching, work and the wider social environment
  • Successful graduation from the regular school or the internal Dr. Nardini school (private support center, emotional and social development) (see school concept!)
  • Acquisition of social and communication skills
  • Development of a stable self-esteem
  • Development of a realistic life planning
  • Development of a value system and moral awareness as a guideline for our own actions
  • Attaining cognitive and emotional stability
  • Acquisition of skills to cope with everyday tasks
  • Possibility of reorientation in the family and thereby improving the intrafamilial relationship and interaction skills
  • Improving custody of parents

These generally formulated goals are tailored to the individual case in the context of care and therapy. Therefore, specific therapy and development goals tailored to the problem of the child / adolescent are developed.

3. Which methods are used??

In principle, a form of help is also used to preselect the methods in question.
In the admission interview or in the regular help plan conferences, goals and forms of treatment are set and checked.
In the educational planning, the goals and forms of treatment are divided into concrete and manageable steps.
This is for all forms of help where children, adolescents or young adults live together in a group "therapeutic milieu" the group the basis for the "healing process".
In addition, the following aids and treatments can be carried out if psychologists and pedagogical staff with additional qualifications are indicated:

  • Play therapy (for children, individually)
  • Special educational game treatment (for children, individually or in small groups)
  • Talk therapy (for adolescents and adults, individually or for couples)
  • Art therapy
  • Experience education measures
  • Curative educational exercise treatment
  • Thematic, time-limited training such as anti-aggression training, cool training etc.

If necessary, external specialists, services and institutions are also used for special aids and forms of treatment in close cooperation.

For outpatient help, methods of individual case help such as one-on-one and family discussions, support, guidance and support in performing educational, supply and livelihood-related tasks and appointments, advice on partnership issues and practicing social skills are used in particular.

For children and adolescents who visit our internal Dr. Nardini school (private support center, emotional and social development), the responsible teachers and specialists of the school are involved in all relevant processes and decisions.

5. Where does all this take place?

There are spacious, newly renovated group rooms in the main building for the semi-stationary help forms and for the fully inpatient aid forms are available to five new group houses. The outsourced youth group is housed in a tenement in Neumarkt. The curative education group for girls “Alma” is located in an apartment building in Parsberg in the immediate vicinity of the central facility. Apartments for assisted living are also rented in Parsberg and in the closer region.
All outpatient help measures are oriented towards the living environment and are carried out in the home of the cared for and their surroundings.
If necessary and in consultation with the cost bearers, further forms of help can be set up at different locations.
