At a glance:

  • Clever marketing idea: master painter lutz gusowski had one of his vehicles wrapped like a police car. This attracts attention.
  • Legal protection: beforehand, he checked to make sure it was legally okay.
  • More hits on his website: there on the delivery truck big painter-nrw.De stands, the number of visitors to his website has multiplied.

this car from master painter lutz gusowski stands out not only because of its color scheme: bright blue, radiant yellow and silver. It stands out mainly because from a distance it looks like a police car. That is precisely the goal of the company from leichlingen in the rhineland. "i want to stand out with the logo, because it’s additional advertising for the company," says gusowski.

But not only for his company the master craftsman wants to advertise. Also for the craft and its professions in general. "we have a rather dusty reputation, especially among young people. But many companies are progressive, innovative and modern – that’s what I want to show," he says.

Customers demand the "speedster to

gusowski has a total of six vehicles in his fleet. The blue citroen berlingo serves almost exclusively as the boss’s car. Only in emergencies is one of his eight employees allowed to drive it. "I mainly use the car to acquire customers when I go out for measurements or visit construction sites," says the 53-year-old.

The painting company is conveniently located for traffic. "across the street is a popular bakery. When people are sitting there drinking their coffee, they look closely at the car," he reports.

Customers who have seen the vehicle before ask directly on the phone whether the master painter can come with the "police car. "ever since we got the car, my business has been a real topic of conversation here," says gusowski.

More hits on the website

gusowski deliberately had the Internet address of his company, which was founded in 2009, printed in large letters on the hood and side doors of the car. painter-nrw.De is easy to remember and the large inscription can not be overlooked.

this is also reflected in the number of hits on his website: "we can already see that the hits have increased a lot," he says. The number of inquiries via the contact form on the website has also increased since the car was wrapped four months ago.

Last but not least, customers have also commissioned the business who might not have become aware of the master painter without the eye-catching car. "customers these days are already looking closely at the cost. If I can then score points with a strong appearance, it doesn’t do any harm – on the contrary," the man from the Rhineland emphasizes. Overall, about 70 percent of the customers who inquire with him decided in favor of the order.

Legally protected beforehand

Many customers and colleagues, when they first came into contact with the new car, would have asked at first: "is it allowed to?". But the entrepreneur was prepared for this question. "i work closely with a law firm and have, of course, clarified this in advance," says gusowski.

He worked out the design together with a specialist in advertising technology. He, too, wanted to make sure he was legally protected before starting to put stickers on the vehicle. The result: the blue color, which is also used on police cars, is not legally protected. Only the "police" logo should not be used by anyone other than the police themselves. So nothing stood in the way of implementation.

lutz gusowski saw a similarly stickered craftsman’s delivery van in berlin some time ago. His summary after four months: "We stand out, and that’s advertising that doesn’t cost anything extra. If I can still generate new customers, all the better."
