It is generally believed that this historic Victorian mansion was the inspiration for Toad Hall Castle from Kenneth Grahame’s classic children’s book “The Wind in the Willows” from the early 20th century.

Tours through the south of England: On the way to Cornwall you drive through the picturesque Bodmin Moor, one of the most famous excursion destinations in Cornwall.

Near Bodmin is Lanhydrock House (National Trust). The house wonderfully combines the relics of its architectural past. With its admirable exterior facade, the residence is enthroned in the middle of a wonderful park landscape on a hill above the Fowey River. Magnificent rooms in the house provide interesting insights into Victorian living culture. The park invites you to stroll with colorful rhododendrons and magnolias.

Another property worth seeing is in the northwest of Bodmin – Pencarrow House. A Georgian country estate, in the park and the rock and forest areas predominate Cornish-Victorian garden art. During a walk you can discover more than 600 species of rhododendrons.

In the Bodmin Moor itself you can go on beautiful hikes and are so-called from time to time "Gates" bump, these are rock formations created by weathering. In the southern area of the Bodmin Moor is the Dozmary Pool, in which, according to Arthurian legend, the Excalibur sword is said to lie after it has been returned to the Lady of the Lake. All in all, the Bodmin Moor is a wonderful area for a vacation with small children – lots of nature, fresh air and also some adventure!
