Nine teams of architects, urban planners and landscape architects took part in the anonymously held urban planning competition, which the city of Münster organized together with the owners of the current nursery. From July to September, they condensed their ideas for a new, diverse and urban “Quartier Moldrickx” into urban planning designs.
The expert jury unanimously decided on the ranking of the nine submitted works. All Work have remarkable urban planning qualities according to their judgment. Chaired by Professor Dr. Franz Pesch awarded the first prize, endowed with 15,000 euros, to the "stadtraum Architektengruppe". The jury unanimously recommended that the city of Münster make the first prize the basis for further urban development. "The design fits perfectly into the diverse surroundings of the property and perfectly matches the atmosphere of the place – a stroke of luck for the children’s home," summarizes jury chair Professor Dr. Franz Pesch put the jury decision together and added: “The special achievement of the Düsseldorf team is to make the many ties of the property forget about an artistically designed urban figure. The future residents can expect a high quality of living with atmosphere and attractive public spaces. ”
The second place, endowed with 9000 euros, was won by the Vissing Architects in collaboration with rheinflügel severin and hermanns. Third place, endowed with 6000 euros, was awarded to the offices of BURHOFF and BURHOFF Architects in collaboration with Abdelkader Architects and Kuckert Architects.
After the autumn break, all works can be viewed in detail from October 26 to November 13: Moldrickx nursery in Kinderhaus, Westhoffstrasse 139: Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Sunday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Clock.
On Thursday, October 27th, 6 p.m., the winning design will be presented in a public information event in the nursery Moldrickx.

The nursery of the Moldrickx family is located in the center of the children’s home. If they give up their business, a diverse and urban residential area with their own identity should be created here.
The best solutions for the around 3.7 hectares were found in the urban planning competition size Looking for a new residential area with well over 200 residential units. The requirements included a diverse mix of apartments for different target groups as well as the development a so-called density concept appropriate to the location.
