who we are

The Diocesan Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Cologne is currently V. 225 parish (parishes, associations of parishes) and non-parish carriers (Caritas and professional associations, religious orders, foundations, Catholic associations etc.) of 670 Catholic daycare centers in the Archdiocese of Cologne as members.

The day care center for children supports the Catholic daycare centers in fulfilling their legal and ecclesiastical childcare, upbringing and educational mandate. With its range of services, it contributes to ensuring and further developing the quality of Catholic daycare centers and family centers that these can adequately meet the needs and problems of children and families who use the facilities.

Our employees provide their services according to recognized professional standards and work on their further development. In doing so, they rely on scientific knowledge and reliable practical experience.

The team currently consists of 17 specialists working in the following fields of activity Come into play: Specialist advice in regional districts, comprehensive specialist advice in the field of religious education and integration of children with a refugee background, administration and secretariat as well as department management.

What we do

In addition, the specialist advisors cooperate with youth welfare offices, the state youth welfare office, technical schools, the archbishop ‘s general vicariate, Catholic specialist services, etc..

With over 400 events every year, we support pedagogical specialists as one of the largest training providers in the daycare sector.

Representation of interests at state and federal level
As the umbrella organization for free social welfare, the Diocesan Caritas Association represents the interests of the member organizations for the Archdiocese of Cologne at the state level, together with the other North Rhine-Westphalian Diocesan Caritas associations. in the field of child day care. Our advocacy includes:

Participation in appropriate (technical) political committees
Drafting opinions and developing position papers

Interdisciplinary networking and knowledge transfer

Interdisciplinary and cross-departmental processing of technical and socio-political questions, guiding and future topics
Initiation and support of model projects and collaborative projects
