Your trip to Botswana

For your trip to Botswana, our program covers almost all parts of the country. Whether you want to spend your holiday in the Okavango Delta or in the Chobe National Park or to explore the vastness of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, we are confident that you will not find a better and wider choice of tours – guided or individual.

In private lodges you will experience Botswana luxuriously, on safaris in small groups and in a 4 × 4 vehicle individually. You can also choose different flights with different airlines. We offer suitable travel suggestions for your travel to Botswana.

A trip to this country is something very special. Botswana Safaris are the most appealing and you can experience the vast expanse, the unspoiled landscape and the abundance of wildlife: here you can still see Africa’s largest free-roaming herds of sand, savannah and water habitat.

The nature reserves in Botswana make up about 17% of the state area. They are subdivided into national parks (highest protection level) and game reserves (partial use of the inhabitants, in some cases hunting is allowed). The protected areas are open all year round. The most visited are the landscapes in western Botswana, especially the world-famous Okavango Delta – one of the greatest ecosystems and the largest inland delta in the world with an intact flora and fauna.

Other popular national parks are the Chobe National Park with the largest elephant population in southern Africa, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park, which extends over three countries, and the Moremi Game Reserve, which occupies about one third of the area of the Okavango Delta and is known for its large stock of lions and exceptional wildlife in the midst of mopane and acacia forests, lagoons and swamps.

The Kalahari is a secluded landscape with expansive areas, salt pans and dry riverbeds where camping is possible – a unique, original African experience.

A Botswana trip can also be combined with a visit to the world-famous Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. A trip through the Caprivi Strip in northern Namibia is still a real insider tip and a drive along the Kwando River to the Mamili (Nkasa Lupala) National Park is something very special.

The country is the ideal destination for nature lovers. For self-drive tours through Botswana, there is an overall well-developed tourist infrastructure and an improved road network. The four-wheel drive vehicle and roof tent take you to remote areas and are a little closer to your own personal impression of nature.

Lonely located lodges in Botswana can be easily reached by small planes and motorboats, mostly from Maun. The lodges are not only stylish accommodations with a lot of African flair, but they also offer excellent food. The well-trained safari guides will explain the wildlife to you with a lot of expertise and will enable you to experience nature in a great way by jeep, on foot or by boat. The travel consultants of Iwanowski’s Individual Travel are happy to offer you an individual Botswana safari or a guided trip in a small group. Even flights to Botswana reserve the competent experts in Africa.

A river cruise on the Chobe River in Botswana is an unforgettable experience during your Africa trip: watch the wildlife along the river from a small, all-comfort ship with just 14 suites, drive along the shore and visit an African village by dugout canoe.

In principle, Botswana can be visited at all times. The dry season starts at the end of April and lasts until the end of August. During this period, the daytime temperatures are very pleasant (20-25 ° C), but it can cool down strongly at night, even to below zero degrees in the Kalahari. This is the ideal time for wildlife viewing, as the wildlife must visit the waterholes and as the drought increases, the vegetation becomes lighter.

Towards the end of November the dry season ends and the rainy season begins. It lasts until about mid-April. At this time it is hot and humid. Right now, the landscape in the deserts is very beautiful: wildflowers are blooming everywhere, and there are great cloud formations in the Kalahari. For the dry parts of the country like the Kalahari, this is the best holiday season, but some slopes can turn into true mud pits.

In wet areas like the Okavango Delta many camps are closed during the rainy season.
