Background design at Oil crayon pictures.

In my magic color, whose use I have mentioned in many lessons, it is Holzbeize. They are available in numerous color variations in hardware stores in the color department for about 2,80 € to buy. You can also order the individual colors conveniently on the Internet. One pack is enough for 1-3 class sets (amount of water / image format).

I pour the powder of a pack in cold water, depending on the desired Farbintesivität I take about 300-600ml. The powder dissolves immediately and the magic color can be used immediately. It is durable in a glass jar.

With a broad brush, I apply the paint on the sheet. Where the students painted with oil chalk, the wood stain rolls off. All unpainted parts in the image are colored. Due to the intense color effect, the oil crayons start to glow!

Since the wood stain is extremely stained and can not be washed out, the children should wear gowns and rubber gloves. The tables have to be very well covered with several layers of paper. For the younger students I mostly play the " wizard", the older ones are allowed to do magic themselves. The tables in my art space are also very old and "durable".

At this point I would like to thank my art seminar director Angelika Nierfeld in the study seminar Bocholt for the many practical tips during my apprenticeship

(long ago;)), to which also work with the" magic Color" belonged. Maybe you visit this site by accident.

The recipe for sugar chalk

I have the topic New Year’s Eve a new and much easier "recipe" tried for sugar chalk, the old recipe

That’s why I have removed.

Ingredients:

  • 1kg of sugar dissolved in about 2 liters of water
  • Amount of colorful blackboard chalk according to class size or working form s.u.
  • in group work: 1package colorful chalkboard >otherwise 1 package on three children distribute (break pieces so that each child has the same colors)

Put the sugar in a large bowl, pour 1 liter boiling water over it and dissolve the sugar while stirring.

Add about half a liter to one liter of cold water.

The sugar solution on surface Distribute bowls (this avoids tipping over)

The chalk is repeatedly dipped in the sugar solution before painting and then it is painted on. The effect is the same as overpouring the whole chalk overnight with the sugar solution, but the whole thing is not such a mess, as only the tip of the chalk gets dunked.

Besides, this sugar chalk is so much faster to prepare. Start the sugar solution just before class and you’re ready to start!
