Institute of the Radboudumc Nijmegen
The tasks of the Karakter academic foundation include diagnostics and treatment of children and adolescents with complex mental illnesses. In order to achieve the best results, we look for and offer professional exchange – also across borders: from research results and further training to help for (pediatricians), for example in the form of consultations.

Mission: "In order to achieve the best results for our patients, we seek and offer professional exchange – also with our German neighbors. Regardless of whether you are interested in scientific or clinical research results, further training opportunities or professional support in diagnostics and treatment, we look forward to hearing from you."
Prof. Dr. Wouter Staal, head of training at Karakter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Consultation: "We often hear from parents that they have been looking for an explanation of their children’s behavior for some time – after a clear diagnosis. At Karakter there are specialists for a wide variety of mental illnesses. My areas of expertise are the diagnosis and treatment of small children as well as the diseases ASA, ADHD and personality disorders. If you would also like to be certain of the problems your child is facing, do not hesitate to contact us."
Bas de Veen MSc, Project Leader Innovation & Development, contact person Karakter Akademie
Cooperation: "Child and adolescent psychiatry is known for its good quality in both the Netherlands and Germany. However, we are convinced that the potential has not yet been exploited. Exchange of knowledge and cooperation on an international and intercultural level makes it possible to further improve child and adolescent psychiatric diagnostics and treatment on both sides of the border."
