Deregistration
Deregistration does not have to be requested by the holder personally. You can also deregister a vehicle online as an agent of the keeper or as a buyer.
Insurance and customs (vehicle tax) automatically receive a message after the vehicle has been taken out of service. As a rule, you do not have to do anything here.
New registration (brand new vehicle)
Attention: registrations of brand-new vehicles are generally possible online at the district of viersen. However, this requires that the respective manufacturer has deposited the technical data for the vehicle with the Federal Motor Transport Authority. Currently (as of may 2020), this is not yet the case with many manufacturers. This leads to an error message when entering the letter number.
Registration or re-registration, change of address
Before you begin, please be sure to observe the following requirements:
- At the moment, the possibilities for online applications are still limited to natural persons who must prove their identity electronically (exception: deregistration).
- The applicant must not have any outstanding arrears from registration procedures with the district or outstanding vehicle tax arrears with the customs administration.
- the vehicle in question must have a german registration certificate (part I and part II), because most of the processes require the specification of the security codes available there. For new vehicles, only the possession of the registration certificate part II has to be proven.
- In addition, we need the information of the previous license plate, the chassis number and for most transactions an evb number of the insurance, data for the SEPA direct debit mandate (vehicle tax) and the due date of the next general inspection.
- Entering the data in the form is an application procedure. The actual registration is carried out on the next working day at the registration office.
If you wish to transfer a registered vehicle to the district of viersen, this is only possible online if you take over the previous license plate.
The change of the license plate is currently not possible on the internet. (in principle, however, you can first deregister via the internet and then, in the next step – if necessary – enter the data for the registration. Only one day later – again with license plate change internet-based approval. However, you will have to pay the fees for both procedures.)
