The Großglockner is not only the highest mountain in Austria, but also the scenic landmark of Tyrol. With its many mountain walls and slopes, it is ideal for hiking, mountaineering, climbing, skiing and snowboarding, making it one of the most popular travel destinations throughout the year. A holiday at the idyllic Achensee is also very popular. Located north of the Inn Valley, the mountain lake enchants its visitors with crystal-clear and turquoise-blue water that even invites you to swim in the warm summer months. On extended hikes around the shore, you get to know the terrain better and find some places where you are completely alone to relax and unwind. Tirol also offers you a large selection of long-distance hiking trails on which you spend several days. These include, for example, the 420 km long Eagle Walk, which leads from St. Johann in Tirol to St. Christoph am Arlberg. You cover a good 30km of altitude and get unforgettable insights into the flora and fauna of the Karwendel Mountains. The Berliner Höhenweg is much shorter, crossing the Zillertal Alps and taking around eight days. The visit to the listed Berlin hut with the state hall from the 19th century is particularly impressive.
