I think you left out a very cool area. There’s still a pretty great way to hike with kids: long hikes with the whole family. We have been doing this with our three small children every summer for five years. And it’s actually addictive: a great experience every time! Sometimes we run from hut to hut, sometimes we travel with a tent. We almost always go to Scandinavia, because the hiking infrastructure there also makes long walks with family almost carefree. We recommend!
