Smartwatch sim card with and without contract

Smartwatch SIM card with and without a contract

Calls on the wrist, sending and receiving messages, surfing the Internet, downloading apps and streaming favorite music – all without having a smartphone nearby. What was probably unimaginable for many a few years ago has now become a matter of course. Smartwatches are providing more and more evidence of why they are called intelligent watches. Since there are now a number of models that can be inserted with a SIM card, they shine with the same range of functions as can be expected from a mobile phone. There are also children’s watches with GPS, which make it unnecessary for parents to buy a cell phone for their offspring. This technology not only offers many opportunities, it will also become more established in the future, and you need one for all of these Smartwatch SIM card.

The children’s smartwatch with SIM makes the mobile phone superfluous

Many parents are faced with the question of how they can give their child the necessary degree of freedom and at the same time guarantee sufficient security. Especially when the little ones are gradually becoming more independent and sometimes want to set off without the adults or are about to start school, this topic comes up. Buying a smartphone is an option, but certainly not an ideal solution. For a child who goes to elementary school or even attends kindergarten, it is premature to buy this type. How quickly a cell phone is forgotten and accidentally stays there – it is not always possible to find it again. The operation is also not to be described as child-friendly, although now even the youngest quickly get used to the technology.

In contrast, a full range of advantages is offered by a children’s smartwatch. Like a mobile phone, it requires a SIM card because it offers a very similar range of functions – however, it generally proves to be a significantly cheaper purchase. Like the cell phone, the children’s watch with GPS is also suitable for making calls thanks to the SIM card, and messages can also be sent back and forth between the tots and the parents. Depending on the model, text and voice messages are supported.

In addition to being much easier to use, the children’s smartwatch provides added value for safety. The adults can locate their offspring at any time, which can be achieved using the GPS module in conjunction with the SIM card. On top of that, safety zones can be defined in which the child should move. If it crosses these areas, the smartwatch will inform you. In addition, an SOS function helps the baby get help quickly in emergencies. At the push of a button, the most important contacts receive a message that the child feels insecure, including a note about the current position. This notification by the GPS watch with SIM can then be reacted to accordingly. In addition, the safety of the little ones is ensured with a children’s smartwatch to ensure that unauthorized persons cannot gain access. Only people authorized by the parents can reach the offspring. A conventional cell phone does not allow this function either.

In order to achieve all of these skills, the children’s smartwatch requires the SIM card in question. Depending on the model, this is either a nano SIM or a micro SIM. In any case, this must have a data volume ready so that the GPS children’s watch can also be located.

Smartwatch with SIM offers complete independence from the smartphone

Most people know a smartwatch in particular because it immediately informs them about the news that is happening on their cell phones. Even without the cell phone always being at hand, the user always stays up-to-date on incoming calls and newly received messages or news from social networks. In addition, it has almost become standard that smartwatches with displays offer the same opportunity to respond from the wrist. The text of the message can therefore be called up on the watch screen and can be answered. This happens in different ways: Some models convert voice commands into writing, many have ready-made text modules and keyboard input is also common. Thanks to the integrated microphone and loudspeaker, calls can even be made without having to take the smartphone out of your pocket. All of these functions already make a smartwatch valuable and a real help in everyday life. But there have recently been smart watches that can be used completely independently of the cell phone.

A SIM card is inserted for them, as is the case with child-friendly devices. The difference is that the functions are aligned differently accordingly. Adults use a smartwatch with SIM to stay connected wherever they are, even without the mobile phone being around. The watch thus functions as a completely self-sufficient device. It can also be synchronized with the mobile phone like other smartwatches, but this is not absolutely necessary. The SIM card allows the user to make calls with the smartwatch at any time. They can also send and receive messages, surf the Internet, enjoy their favorite titles on the go or download new apps and watch faces.

Apple has been offering an LTE model with an eSIM since Watch Series 3. This variant can be reached on the same phone number as the iPhone. Calls and messages arrive both on the smartphone and on the watch. But the company from Cupertino, California, is by no means the only manufacturer to offer one or more smartwatches with a SIM card. Other well-known brands such as LG, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE or MyKronoz have also positioned themselves on this market. In addition, lesser known labels like Zeblaze, Simvalley, No.1, Awatch, Omate or Finow should not go unmentioned. With these representatives, unlike Apple, the smartwatch uses its own number.

In the future, this function will in all likelihood be even more strongly represented, so that further smartwatches with SIM card will be available. The very fact that Apple, as the provider of the world’s best-selling smartwatch, has followed this development confirms the trend. Quite a few industry experts predict that in the medium-term future these models will completely replace the smartphone.

Equip smartwatch with SIM card contract or prepaid?

If the choice fell on one of the independent smartwatches with SIM, there is another important question: Should the corresponding SIM card be used according to a contract model or as a prepaid variant? There is still uncertainty here, while many position themselves more clearly on a smartphone – although there is no difference. The prepaid SIM has to be recharged regularly, while a fixed basic fee applies to a mobile phone contract every month.

At first glance, the prepaid model may seem cheaper, but in many cases the required data volume is missing. This has to be booked additionally, which ultimately increases the costs. The contract already includes it and the bottom line often turns out to be the cheaper option.

However, the limited use of the prepaid SIM is much more important. When their credit has been used up, they need to be topped up first. No calls, surfing or messaging are possible during this time. In addition, children’s smartwatches also mean that parents can no longer locate them. There is no such danger with a mobile phone contract for a smartwatch with SIM. The fixed monthly fee includes free minutes, free SMS and sufficient data volume so that communication is always successful. Automatic top-ups can also be carried out with some prepaid providers, but here the customer quickly loses sight of their costs, because if there is no longer sufficient credit, an amount will be debited from the bank account.

Another disadvantage, which is common with a prepaid, is the complex verification. To register the SIM card, the user must first confirm his identity. This is usually done via the webcam on the PC in exchange with a service employee. It is not uncommon to have to wait several days for this. Because the list of advantages for a SIM card with a contract for the smartwatch clearly outweighs the recommendation for this model. This choice is often associated with a discount when buying the watch, which is another argument compared to the prepaid variant.
