MuseumPasseier, St. Leonhard in Passeier – The exciting life of Andreas Hofer

Immerse yourself in the eventful life of Andreas Hofer – the national hero of South Tyrol. The MuseumPasseier tells its exciting story in a lively and entertaining way. Outside, in a typical farm with smithy, a mill, a bowling alley, you will be transported to life over 200 years ago. A visit to the Jaufenburg with a free-standing five-story keep is also worthwhile.

Taufers Castle near Sand in Taufers – majestic and fortified

The mighty castle complex is one of the largest and most beautiful castles in the Tyrolean region. It majestically sits enthroned on a steep rock. For children there is a large weir system with an armory, library, courtroom, dining room, torture chamber, prison, battlements and other things to discover. The Palas is particularly impressive. Definitely worth a visit! Perfect in combination with a visit to the Prettau show mine.

South Africa travel with children

South Africa is a country rich in children and particularly child-friendly. South African families with 3 or 4 children – rather the exception with us – are not uncommon in South Africa. The offers for children are correspondingly large, although the large garden with extensive play equipment and swimming pool is of course the top priority. It is usually also available to many children from less wealthy families. Traveling with children during school holidays and at the "Long weekends" (long weekends with non-working Friday and / or Monday) is also a matter of course. Either you drive into the sea or into a car "Game reserve", for example in the Kruger National Park or in the Kalahari. The children are used to accepting long car journeys without complaint.

South Africa with children: family trips in a rental vehicle with particularly child-friendly accommodation

As a specialist for family trips to South Africa, we are approached almost every day about what you have to consider if you want to travel South Africa with children? First of all, you should not try to take tips from friends without children for your travel planning. As a family, you have a different pace and needs. Instead, trust an experienced tour operator to travel South Africa with your own children. This is exactly what we specialize in. Our daughters were born in 2007 and 2010 and traveled with us through South Africa of all ages.
We therefore know not only the suitable rooms, but also the most beautiful regions, attractions, beaches, restaurants with a run and much more. The travel routes have been optimized for many years and the accommodations are regularly checked and updated. The right rental vehicle for you comes from AVIS, including navigation system and Premium Plus package.
South Africa is a particularly child-friendly country, which offers the whole family a very varied and, in terms of wildlife, very educational stay. It is possible to travel all year round. So you can use all holiday periods. We have also prepared valuable tips for you regarding flight connections.
There are not many accommodations that specialize in family accommodation. It is therefore advisable to book the holiday periods very early. Ideally 1 year in advance. Cots are available in the special rooms as well as enough space for the whole family. Some safari lodges offer programs for children, you just have to know which game reserve is suitable for which age. Each lodge has its own advantages.

Children’s holiday in South Tyrol – farm holidays with children

Children’s holidays in South Tyrol – farm holidays with children

Children’s vacation on the farm are an unforgettable adventure for the whole family. During one Children’s holidays in South Tyrol kids can let off steam every day and gain a lot of educational experience. Above all, dealing with the many farm animals on a daily basis enables educationally valuable moments during the Holidays with children on a farm. "Does milking hurt the cow?", "How fast does the tractor drive?" Or "Can I give the calf a name?" – these are just three of around 1000 questions that deserve an answer. The Bacher family has a suitable answer for all questions and is already looking forward to the helping hands that support them in the stable work, feeding and distributing the daily pats.

South Africa with children or: The perfect parental leave

South Africa Strangely enough, I never had it on my bucket list.

Too European? Too racist? Too touristy? I’m not sure why.

But when it came to finding a suitable destination for our second parental leave, the much-vaunted country at the southern tip of Africa suddenly appeared more and more often. And before I knew it, we already had 3 1/2 flight tickets to Cape Town on the computer.

How did this decision come about??

What speaks for South Africa as a travel destination with babies and toddlers?

  1. no time difference = no jet lag
  2. wonderful, healthy climate in our winter
  3. good tourist infrastructure (easily accessible by rental car)
  4. fantastic accommodations for families (always with a large outdoor area)
  5. many animal experiences without much effort
  6. no malaria (at least in the Cape region that we wanted to travel)
  7. Enormous dream beaches
  8. Dream landscapes en masse
  9. Cape Town, one of the most beautiful cities in the world
  10. English as the official language (suddenly becomes important: buying baby food, visiting a pediatrician etc.)
  11. good value for money

To start with: All of these points have been proven.

The two months in South Africa exceeded our expectations and I can warmly recommend the Cape region as a perfect family destination.

Excursions in South Tyrol

Our most beautiful destinations in South Tyrol with children

Where to go for a trip with children in South Tyrol?
Mostly we go to South Tyrol for a hike with the kids. The particularly beautiful destinations in nature were often beautiful excursion destinations and hiking destinations for us at the same time.

I am thinking particularly of the Gilfenklamm near Sterzing. Or the less well-known Burkhard Gorge with the sandy beach (!) On Aglsboden. The Bletterbach Gorge near Bozen is no longer an insider tip – but it is still worth seeing: The Bletterbach Gorge is the most famous gorge in South Tyrol and is worth a trip with children.

4 child-friendly hikes in South Tyrol

Between the Ortler and the spectacular crenellations of the Dolomites, wild mountain landscapes with exciting gorges and waterfalls beckon. We present 4 adventure hikes in South Tyrol that impress children and adults alike.

1. To the earth pyramids of Terento

Mill and panorama trail in the Puster Valley: The hike leads from Terento mostly along the Terentner stream to the earth pyramids. The brook rises on the 2,700 m high lizard peak, the "Hegedex", as it is called by the locals. The energy of the stream was used early on to drive the mills from the region. All in all a rewarding hike that has a lot of potential for children to discover.
