Dentures: everything to taste, types and course of a treatment

Dentures – crowns, bridges, dental implants and prostheses

Dentures are the most common reason that causes patients to go abroad for dental treatment.

The reason for this is quite clear: Whether crown, bridge, prosthesis or implant – dentures is a costly affair and thus even the cross-border comparison of the various offers is worthwhile.

Of course not only the price should be right, but also the quality should be taken into consideration, because after all, it’s about your health!

The dental care in Hungary is convincing in both respects:

  • price advantage: When inserting dental implants as well as in the production of dental crowns and dental bridges in Hungary, there is a saving potential of 50-70% compared to the usual German tariffs!
  • quality advantage: In Hungary, Western European quality awaits you. Here you will find dentists with solid professional training and reliable dental practice experience working with high quality materials and products from renowned denture manufacturers.

Dentures – what types are there?

Dentures are various solutions for replacing missing teeth – fixed dentures includes Crown and bridges, removable dentures are prostheses and telescopic dentures, or is there a mixed solution, the so-called combined dentures, consisting of a fixed and a removable part.

Fixed dentures

Dental crowns have been established for decades as one of the most widely used long-term solutions. You can also rely on the good price-performance ratio. In dentistry, the term “bridge” refers to the connection of several crowns, which are glued together so as to also eliminate missing teeth "bridge" to be able to. Dental bridges and dental crowns are affordable in Hungary and are considered to be long lasting. Shape and color can be personalized. Patients can choose from a variety of types, such as metal ceramics, gold ceramics, all-ceramic (so-called jacket crowns) or zirconia Zahn. Meanwhile, dental crowns and dental bridges made of metal ceramics and zirconia use because they have proven to be inexpensive, durable and aesthetic.

After a dental implantation, the artificial roots used are also over-crowned to replace the missing part above the gums. Dental implants consist of two parts: the artificial root of titanium and the structure of titanium. Then the artificial crown is attached. Ideally, but rarely, implants can be all zirconia. For implant-supported dental bridges and dental crowns, metal ceramics and zirconia are also recommended. In Hungary, the price difference between these two materials is relatively small.

Dental implants are tissue-friendly and bond securely with the bone. Thus, they are ideally suited for the attachment of dental crowns and dental bridges. This proven treatment method has been chosen by millions of patients in recent decades. At our dental clinic, products from world-renowned manufacturers are used to make dental implantation a life-support solution.

Removable dentures

A removable denture can be made in different versions and as the name suggests, it is a denture, by the patient by hand, without medical help from the oral cavity removed or can be used again.

There are full and partial dentures, depending on how pronounced the tooth loss is. The biggest advantage in any case is that the removable full denture offers a solution for everyone who does not have enough bone substance to implant. With a removable dentures, there are no contraindications.

The removable denture is considered inexpensive, is easy to keep clean and is because of the metallic structures resistant and unbreakable.

Modern technology makes it possible to combine with dental implants, providing a removable but stable solution for anyone who can not get used to the inconvenience of a prosthesis. 2-4 dental implants provide the perfect grip for a removable denture.

Combined dentures

If you still have multiple teeth, the combined dentures is the ideal solution. Thanks to modern technology, the removable dentures can be safely retained on the remaining teeth and the combined dentures fulfill every desire for a natural aesthetic.

The combined denture makes it possible for the removable element to be anchored to a fixed element – in practice this means that a partial denture can be supplemented by a bridge that is able to fix the removable replacement in place. As a holding element is most often the precision attachment used, which replaces the brackets and is not visible from the outside.

I arrived in Heviz with a complete lack of teeth and a removable prosthesis. My wobbly denture was really annoying because I could not use my teeth properly while eating.

In the Gelencser Dental Clinic I got exactly what I expected: Precision and effectiveness and the result is a really beautiful and stable dentures. I am very proud that I can now enjoy life with a stable bit and that I finally feel insecure, because this uncertainty really bothered me every day.

When is which dentures suitable?

Which type of tooth replacement is best suited for closing a tooth gap, must be individually clarified. The examination of the oral cavity is frequently supplemented by imaging techniques such as x-rays or computed tomography.

Fixed dentures

When chewing and speaking fixed dentures provides the most natural feeling and is in some cases also for professional reasons (singer, wind musician, speakers, etc.) indispensable. Crowns are used when the damaged tooth still provides sufficient support for the attachment of an artificial tooth crown. Bridges are for provide a solution for smaller gullets, where the dentures can be attached to the crown of the adjacent teeth. Dental implants are – similar to the natural tooth – anchored in the jawbone; they can also serve as bridge piers.

Removable dentures

Removable full dentures are adjusted for complete tooth loss. Removable partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing and the gap closure by fixed dentures is not possible (for example, lack of stability or unfavorable distribution of the remaining teeth in the jaw). If a further tooth loss is to be expected (for example, in the case of residual teeth that have already been damaged), removable partial dentures can be adapted to the altered jaw situation relatively easily. In some cases, the cheaper price is also crucial for the choice of this variant.

Combined dentures

In this variant, fixed elements (primary part, usually a crowned tooth) and removable elements (partial dentures) are combined. These include both telescopic and conical crowns (double crowns) as well as more complex constructions such as attachments, bars or bars. This gives the partial denture firmer hold than conventional stapling.

What material consists of the dentures?

The for the production of dentures used materials have to withstand the highest demands: they must be very stable fracture and corrosion-resistant be to withstand the stresses of chewing.

For this, the materials must be biocompatible, as they come directly in contact with the jawbone, teeth and / or gums.

Last but not least, the materials used must also meet all aesthetic requirements, in order to achieve a cosmetically appealing result – of course, the dentures should act as natural as possible.

Basically, three types of material can be distinguished in dentures:

  • Metals, in particular titanium (dental implants) and gold alloys (full crowns)
  • High-performance ceramics, especially zirconium oxide or zirconium oxide (artificial dental crowns)
  • Plastic (palatal plate for dentures, artificial dental crowns)

Very often dentures consists of a combination of several materialsFor example, veneering crowns consist of a metal body that is veneered with a tooth-colored ceramic layer, so that the artificial crown fits perfectly into the existing row of teeth.

Partial dentures consist of a plastic palate plate, mounting brackets made of metal and artificial dental crowns made of ceramic or plastic.

Dental implants usually consist of an implant body titanium and a ceramic crown – but there are also all-ceramic implants.

Is the procedure painful??

Which treatment steps at the onset of dentures are required depends on the selected type:

  • The insertion of a dental implant is the most time-consuming, as the implant body – analogous to the natural tooth root – is anchored surgically in the jawbone.
  • The production of a bridge or Crown is less expensive. After the preparatory grinding of the tooth crown (s) an artificial tooth crown is attached to the tooth stump.
  • at Full or partial dentures is only an adaptation to the individual jaw and tooth situation required.

In all cases, modern dentistry attaches great importance to making the procedure as gentle as possible for the patient.

To avoid unnecessary pain during and immediately after treatment, work is done under local anesthesia. Unpleasant is only the puncture of the anesthetic injection and the subsequent slight numbness, but quickly subsides. During the surgery for the insertion of dental implants, the patient can also be put into a sleepy sleep, so that he does not notice the actual surgery.

The anesthesia is easier here than with a conventional general anesthetic and thus gentler. Immediately after the operation, wound pain is to be expected, but it can be well controlled by professional cooling and the administration of analgesics.

In rare cases, there may be pressure pain or other complications after inserting or adjusting the denture: In such cases, you should contact your doctor immediately to make a diagnosis and initiate appropriate procedures.

Is dentures risky?

When fitting or inserting dental prostheses, these involve dental or dental surgery procedures in which – as with other medical interventions – a residual risk can never be completely excluded.

In the dental clinic Gelencsér the well-being of our patients always comes first and therefore we do our utmost to minimize this residual risk:
